The long awaited fourth installment of the Indiana Jones series, some 19 years after the last outing, The Last Crusade, was eagerly anticipated by fans, and proved one of the most successful films of 2008; it placed number two in the worldwide box-office rankings with over US $876 million, and the DVD also sold more than 5.3 million copies in the US alone last year.

Produced again by Steven Spielberg (Letters from Iwo Jima, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler’s List), from a story by George Lucas (of Star Wars fame) and Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 2 and 3), and a screenplay by David Koepp (Mission Impossible, Spider Man, Carlito’s Way, Jurassic Park), The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sees Dr. Jones hijacked by Soviet agents who force him to lead them to the remains of an extra terrestrial creature that they are seeking.

Harrison Ford as Indy at age 60 is more indestructible than ever before, surviving an atomic blast amongst other hazards, and has been brought from the action-adventure serials of the 1930s into the 1950s. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker – think Marlon Brando in The Wild Bunch (Shia LaBeouf – Eagle Eye, Tranformers, Disturbia) and his spirited original love Marion (Karen Allen – Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Perfect Storm), Indy takes you on a breathtaking action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movies. Academy Award Winner Cate Blanchett (The Aviator, I’m Not Here, Notes on a Scandal) is the beautiful and brilliant Russian agent, Dr. Irina Spalko, who is trying to outrace Indy to the mystical, all powerful Crystal Skull of Akator, and rounding out the talented cast are Ray Winstone (The Departed, Breaking and Entering), John Hurt (V for Vendetta, Midnight Express) and Jim Broadbent (Iris, Inkheart).

A perfect family film, sit back and enjoy the ride. Also on the DVD is the featurette “The Return of a Legend” – the evolution of the new film and a tribute to the legendary hero and his creators, and some pre-production clips – follow Steven Spielberg as he creates animatic sequences, see Shia LeBeouf as he learns to swordfight and watch the reunion of filmmakers and cast on the soundstage.
